On this day trip from Cusco you will experience one of the best viewing opportunities for Condor in their natural environment. The Condor along the Apurimac canyon allow you the opportunity to observe the largest flying bird in the world, the majestic Andean Condor soaring from the Chonta canyon which forms part of Apurimac canyon near to Cusco. Chonta canyon is one of the deepest canyons in South America and home to numerous Andean Condor.
We depart for the adventure at 7am from your hotel in Cusco. We drive to the town of Limatambo and along the way we will stop at viewpoints to take photos of the amazing Andes, and Salkantay mountain. We then continue driving through beautiful mountain scenery. After one hour we arrive in Killarumiyoc where our guide will explain all of the Inca History of this charming place. We then continue on to the Valley of Limatambo, where the Tarawasi Inca site is located. After exploring this beautiful site, we will continue our tour driving uphill on the dirt road towards to the community of Chonta. Upon arrival we hike 1 ½ hours (moderate difficulty) reaching the lookout of Hahuacco, which boasts great views of the Apurimac canyon and Vilcabamaba mountain range. With a little bit of luck we will enjoy our Condor sighting activity; it is common to see the majestic condors soaring in their natural habitat and flying over the Chonta canyon. In the afternoon we walk back down to Chonta for 1 ½ hours then drive back to Cusco.
